State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman on Tuesday announced a new crackdown against a pair of designer drug merchants in the city.
Mr. Schneiderman’s office recently reached a settlement with local head shop The High Life requiring that it stop sales of designer drugs and pay a $35,000 fine. Additionally, his office is seeking criminal contempt charges against a second head shop, Trip on the Wild Side II, as it is accused of violating a 2012 court order to cease drug sales. The shop also paid a $27,000 fine.
Mr. Schneiderman’s office said Trip sold concentrated cannabinol (CBD), including “Heady Harvest” CBD gummy bears, “Hemp Bomb” pills, CBD crumbles, CBD cartridges for vaping, CBD Cherry Syrup, and “Blissful Remedies” kratom pills.
The High Life reportedly sold multiple formats of kratom, salvia divinorum, a Soviet-era prescription drug called “Limitless,” nitrous oxide (whip its), and other products.
