{"id":1611,"date":"2017-08-03T01:22:15","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T01:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=1611"},"modified":"2020-12-03T02:59:51","modified_gmt":"2020-12-03T02:59:51","slug":"regulatory-watchdog-calls-on-dea-to-halt-kratom-ban-calls-on-omb-intervention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=1611","title":{"rendered":"Regulatory Watchdog Calls On DEA To Halt Kratom Ban, Calls On OMB Intervention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 12, the Center for Regulatory Effectiveness, an independent think tank and regulatory watchdog organization, wrote an open letter to the DEAregarding the notoriously corrupt and rights-crushing agency\u2019s recent ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabislegale.org\/cbd-oil-vs-kratom\/\">kratom<\/a>. In this letter, the CRE has made a number of recommendations to the DEA that would at least put an element of logic to the agency\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n<p>The CRE points out that the DEA\u2019s policy on kratom is in conflict with the policy of a number of other federal agencies and, thus, the legality of kratom falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of Management and Budget whose job it is to settle inter-agency conflicts of policy.<\/p>\n<p>The letter reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) has been described as the cockpit of the regulatory state.
