A new analysis shows how different they can be.<\/p>\n<p>Plant-based meat alternatives have become quite similar to real meat, even in terms of texture and &#8220;simulating bloodiness.&#8221; Further, manufacturers have also incorporated important nutrients so they can\u00a0be comparable to real meat.<\/p>\n<p>At a quick glance, real meat and the alternatives may seem &#8220;essentially equivalent.&#8221;\u00a0However, there are some nutrients that are not listed on the labels,\u00a0Duke University\u00a0<u>said<\/u>\u00a0in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>For their study, <u>published<\/u>\u00a0this week in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers took a deeper look at such\u00a0products&#8217;\u00a0nutritional content using a tool called &#8220;metabolomics.&#8221;\u00a0This allowed them to measure the metabolite profiles of 18 popular plant-based meat alternatives and 18 grass-fed ground beef samples from Idaho.<\/p>\n<p>Read more at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/meat-plant-based-alternatives-complementary-not-nutritionally-interchangeable-study-3245392\">ibtimes.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are plant-based meat alternatives really interchangeable with real meat?
