{"id":386,"date":"2017-05-18T05:27:05","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T05:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=386"},"modified":"2017-06-06T05:31:13","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T05:31:13","slug":"regulator-could-strip-alternative-medicine-charities-of-their-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=386","title":{"rendered":"Regulator Could Strip Alternative Medicine Charities of their Status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Charities that promote unproven treatments for sick patients could be stripped of their charitable status under proposals being considered by the UK government\u2019s regulator.<\/p>\n<p>The Charity Commission is reviewing how it decides which organizations qualify as charities \u2013 a status that brings authority as well as tax breaks \u2013 after it received complaints that some organizations make unfounded claims about complementary and alternative (CAM) therapies.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission has received more than 300 responses to a public consultation on the issue, which closes on Friday, with many submissions coming from charities themselves.
