{"id":515,"date":"2017-10-09T00:24:30","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T00:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=515"},"modified":"2017-10-11T00:28:14","modified_gmt":"2017-10-11T00:28:14","slug":"no-sweat-small-doses-of-exercise-may-ward-off-depression","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=515","title":{"rendered":"No Sweat: Small Doses of Exercise May Ward Off Depression"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Anyone who has experienced the euphoric &#8220;runner&#8217;s high&#8221; that follows a satisfying workout will likely attest to a connection between physical activity and mental health.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have long borne this theory out: Endorphins, the opiate-like chemicals that flood the brain after intense or sustained exercise, appear to act as a buffer against depressive thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n<p>In the study, which was published Oct. 3 in the American Journal of Psychiatry, the researchers looked at data from the Health Study of Nord-Tr\u00f8ndelag County (aka the HUNT study), one of most extensive population-based health surveys ever conducted.
