{"id":646,"date":"2018-02-11T00:38:13","date_gmt":"2018-02-11T00:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=646"},"modified":"2018-02-16T00:40:07","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T00:40:07","slug":"training-held-to-treat-addiction-with-ear-acupuncture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alternativemedicine.today\/?p=646","title":{"rendered":"Training Held To Treat Addiction With Ear Acupuncture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>MANCHESTER, N.H. \u2014 Ear acupuncture isn&#8217;t the most mainstream way to treat addiction but advocates are hoping to change that.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates say it reduces stress and depression and is a tool to help people battling substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In early recovery, it helps to reduce cravings, it helps to reduce anxiety, trauma, body aches, headaches, nausea,&#8221; said Elizabeth Ropp, advocate and licensed acupuncturist.<\/p>\n<p>The event is also the second training in the state since a law was passed last summer allowing counselors, peer recovery coaches, and others to certify as acupuncture detoxification specialists.<\/p>\n<p>But Ropp said those people still aren&#8217;t allowed to practice on others because they&#8217;re not licensed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This treatment is very safe,&#8221; she said. &#8220;No malpractice claim has ever been filed by anyone who practices ear acupuncture as an acupuncture detoxification specialist.
