Scientists Find Way to Make Exercise Feel Easier

A new study suggests that a simple trick may help make working out feel less strenuous. Researchers from Université de Montréal and Université Savoie Mont Blanc discovered that applying mild vibrations to the Achilles and knee tendons before exercise can alter the brain’s perception of effort.

Participants equipped with the vibrating devices produced more power and showed higher heart rates during cycling, yet reported the same level of exertion as before. According to lead researcher Benjamin Pageaux, the vibrations influence how sensory signals from muscles are processed, effectively “tricking” the brain into perceiving the workout as less demanding.

The findings could inspire new ways to boost exercise motivation and enjoyment by changing how the body interprets physical effort. Read the full story on MSN.
