Aussies Falling Short on Omega-3 Intake, Experts Warn

Australians are missing a vital piece of the nutrition puzzle — Omega-3 fatty acids — according to recent research showing average intake levels well below recommendations. Dietitian Susie Burrell, speaking in partnership with Tassal for World Salmon Day, says the shortfall could have lasting effects on heart and brain health if left unchecked.

Burrell notes a simple fix: one 100-gram serving of salmon provides nearly double the daily Omega-3 requirement. “It’s one of the healthiest, most sustainable proteins available,” she says, encouraging Aussies to make salmon a weekly staple.
