Acupuncture Eases Stress and Pain for IVF Patients, Study Finds

A new study suggests that acupuncture and related Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques can make in vitro fertilization (IVF) a more comfortable experience for women. Researchers at University Hospitals Connor Whole Health in Cleveland found that acupuncture, acupressure, and light therapy significantly reduced stress, anxiety, and pain during IVF procedures. In the study, over 88% of IVF cycles included these treatments on the day of embryo transfer, with about 65% using them in the weeks prior. Women reported notable relief, with anxiety dropping by 2.2 points, stress by 2.1, and pain by 1.4 on a 10-point scale. The findings highlight the growing integration of complementary therapies in fertility clinics to support patients both physically and emotionally.
